March 16, 2020: Lupe’s Community Garden is offering an opportunity for volunteers to get some exercise while helping with some productive gardening. Weeding and garden plot preparation are underway, and planting will soon take place. We need to limit the number of volunteers so they can be spaced well. Please call Denise Guinn, Program Manager of the Garden to set up a time to volunteer: 541-207-2982, or email at lupesgarden[AT]

Hours: Monday, 4:00 – 6:00 PM

The intent of this program is to teach people how to garden, grow their own food, and give back to others in the community by sharing a portion of the harvest with the PCS Food Bank.

The garden currently consists of 20 beds, an orchard with 27 fruit trees, and additional open garden beds. Volunteers share their gardening skills. The program receives donations of tools, plants, and funds to purchase supplies and seeds.

Lupe’s Garden is a cooperative community garden so there are no assigned beds. Instead, participants share in the planting, growing, and harvesting of the entire garden. Regular volunteers are able to grow their own produce and give surplus produce to the Food Bank. There is no charge for using the garden space.

In 2019, the garden raised enough food for all participants as well as an additional 685 pounds of fresh produce for the Food Bank.

Garden volunteers in action!
