For 30 years,  Philomath Community Services has been providing social services to residents in Philomath and western Benton County. Social service programs include June’s Kids Kloset, Philomath Food Bank, Lupe’s Community Garden, Philomath Community Gleaners and Holiday Cheer.

Volunteers have led the organization 100 percent until January this year, when they hired full time Executive Director, Kate Sundstrom. This is an amazing feat, and for this reason, the board of directors and executive director of PCS, wanted to showcase its accomplishments by hosting an Open House.

On Sunday, September 12, nearly 100 volunteers, clients, board members, donors, community at large and city representatives, graced the PCS event where they enjoyed old-fashioned grilled hot dogs, sodas, chips then topped off with scrumptious cupcakes. Tours were led by board members and program managers every half hour to ensure visitors learned more about PCS and the great work they provide in our community. “This place is amazing,” one guest boasted.

Kids enjoyed an unannounced, yet pleasantly surprised, entertainer who custom-made animal balloons on stilts! Guests challenged their friends and family to a game of corn hole. Several craft fair vendors hosted tables offering their hand made goods– just in time for those special holiday purchases.

A volunteer recognition ceremony took place to honor those committed to the mission of Philomath Community Services.  Volunteers are the pillar of this organization. They are the reason PCS is able to continue to provide food, fresh produce and fruits, clothing, and household items to our residents in our community.

Featured below are PCS Program Managers who help advance the PCS mission and are responsible for ensuring that everyone gets the basic necessities of life.

Thank you to everyone for helping make our 30-year anniversary a resounding success.

PCS relies on the generosity of its volunteers and donors. We look forward to serving our community for another 30 years and beyond.
