Lupe’s Community Garden

The intent of this program is to teach people how to garden, grow their own food, and give
back to others in the community by sharing a portion of the harvest with the PCS Food Bank.

The garden currently consists of 20 beds, an orchard with 27 fruit trees, and additional open garden beds.
Volunteers share their gardening skills. The program receives donations of tools, plants, and funds to purchase
supplies and seeds.

Lupe’s Garden is a cooperative community garden so there are no assigned beds. Instead, participants share in the planting, growing, and harvesting of the entire garden. Regular volunteers are able to grow their own produce and give surplus produce to the Food Bank. There is no charge for using the garden space.

In 2017, the garden raised enough food for all participants as well as an additional 400 pounds of fresh produce for the Food Bank.
